Dear Christopher Jonathan James Nolan,
"They say we only use a fraction of our brain's true potential." Yeah, us normal humans use only a fraction, correct. But you, Mr. Nolan, you seem to use double your brain's potential. The way you entangle our brains with strings of your stories and leave us awestruck with the open endings is just exceptionally unbelievable. Cobb always said that, "No idea is simple when you have to plant it in someone else's mind.", but you planted the idea of 'Inception' in our minds so beautifully that we still question "Is it all just a dream?".
I still remember my reaction when I found out that the beginning scene of 'The Dark Knight Rises' (the airplane scene) was not created using VFX, but it was all real. That is the level of perfection we see in your direction. "Suffering builds character.”, and you showed Miranda’s as well as Bane’s suffering so creatively that we started empathising with them, even though they were the negative characters.
And well Batman’s suffering has always been appealing and painful for us ever since ‘Batman Begins’. “Why do we fall?” “So we can learn to pick ourselves up.” these words always become our ray of hope in times of failure and suffering too.
“Their morals, their code, it’s a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble.”, Joker was right which means you were right because you were the one to give us ‘the best villain’ in the history of superhero movies.
You were the one to provide us with the ‘approximately accurate’ image of a black hole and the concept of meddling with time through black holes in ‘Interstellar’. You introduced us to the dangers of being obsessed with magic and power through ‘The Prestige’. You beautifully portrayed how civilians risked their lives for their country and their soldiers through ‘Dunkirk’. And how can I even forget the masterpieces ‘Insomnia’, ’Following’ and ‘Memento’.
Thank you Mr. Nolan for intriguing our minds and making us curious to know about your stories. This being said I am eagerly waiting for ‘Tenet’ and its world of ‘inversion’. If you didn’t respect Nolan’s ‘Following’ then you don’t deserve his ‘Tenet’.
